Job Description
Ken Garner Engineering is looking for a full time, senior electrical
designer who will be working closely with engineers, designers, and
clients applying their knowledge of electrical systems on various
projects regarding lighting design, telecommunications, fire alarm,
security systems, electrical design, audio/visual, lighting calculations,
specifications and cost estimating. This individual must work within an
approved project budget.
Qualifications
- Applicants must have a minimum of 4 years experience in electrical design in the A/E/C (architectural/engineering/construction) industry, no exceptions. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and AutoCAD. (MEP) Revit experience preferred.

Electrical Engineer/Project Manager
Job Description
Work with engineers, designers, product representatives and clients (architects,
contractors) on various projects regarding lighting design, telecommunications,
fire alarm, security systems, electrical design, lighting calculations, and
specifications and cost estimating. Attend meetings and site work. Overall
management of projects. The ability to market to potential clients. Ensure
that projects are in accordance with International Building Codes and/or IEEE
standards.
This position is primarily responsible for coordinating, implementing, executing, controlling and completing projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals by performing the following duties core duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

- Leads the planning and implementation of project.
- Interfaces with clients and sub-consultants.
- Facilitates the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
- Defines project tasks and resource requirements.
- Develops full scale project plans.
- Coordinates with project staff.
- Manages project budget.
- Maintains overall project profitability.
- Manages the billings each month, coordination with the Bookkeeper.
- Helps in the collection of money, coordination with the Bookkeeper.
- Manages project hours and allocation.
- Plans and schedules project timelines.
- Tracks project deliverables using appropriate tools.
- Provides direction and support to project team.
- Participates in quality assurance.
- Is constantly monitored and report on progress of the project to KGE (Staff meetings) and the client.
- Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions.
- Implement and manage project changes/scope changes.
- Participates in Project evaluations and assessment of results.
- Participates in Marketing, Client interaction and Client recruiting efforts.
- Helps and assists in writing fee proposals.
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
- 5 to 10+ yrs experience in the Architectural/Engineering, Consulting field.
- Understanding of International Building Codes and/or IEEE standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Lite, or AutoCAD Design Review, Revit/BIM or similar software programs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred:
- Professional Engineering License in at least one jurisdiction, transferable to UT.
- NICET Certificate.
- Certified as a LEED Accredited Professional, preferred.
- Experience with Acoustics.
- Experience with Power System Analysis and Protective Relaying.
- Experience with Switchboard and Motor Control Center Design.
- Experience with Medium Voltage Distribution Systems.
- Experience with Cable Tray Design.
- Experience with Lighting Design.
- Experience with Grounding Systems.
- Experience with Lightning/Storm Protection Systems and Fire Alarm Systems.
